Caring for Your Ceramics
General Care
We recommend hand washing all pieces with a gentle dish soap.
Please avoid thermal shock.
We recommend not using our pieces in the microwave, on the stove, over open flame or in the oven.
Do not leave liquids sitting in any piece for a prolonged period of time.
Be mindful of putting hot liquids from our vessels. Due to the thermal qualities of the materials we utilise, our vessels can become quite hot. If your vessel is too hot to handle, do not handle it. If it is too hot for your hands, it’s likely too hot for your tongue – instead take a moment and imagine how nice that drink will taste once it has cooled down and is a comfortable temperature to drink.
Maintenance
If stains build up on pieces over time you can try brushing them with a mixture of water and bicarbonate of soda. If more persistent stains appear on unglazed parts of ceramics you can gently sand them with a fine sanding paper.
All unglazed parts of ceramics that are not functional and are not used for eating or drinking (e.g. vases, sculptures, coasters) are sprayed with a terracotta protective water repellent product that can be reapplied after some time for maintenance. Applying some clear beeswax on unglazed parts of ceramics is encouraged for finishing protection.
